Carson Pass's vacation homes are clustered into three main areas. The lower elevation communities of Pine Grove and Pioneer are close to Jackson and other Gold Rush towns along Highway 49 as well as Jackson Rancheria Casino.
The next gathering of rental properties ia at Kirkwood, where you will find a wide range of rental choices. With winter the high season for Kirkwood, prices during other seasons are quite affordable. Across the pass are Hope Valley and Woodfords along the West Carson River. Thirty miles from there will put you at South Lake Tahoe or Kirkwood and Silver and Caples Lakes.
Pine Grove - Pioneer
Pine Grove is 8 miles from Jackson, Pioneer is only 16. At an elevation of 2,500 feet Pine Grove usually only gets occasional dustings of snow in the winter. Pioneer homes are located at 3,000 to 3,500 feet and will often get fair amounts of snow. Both towns are conveniently located near Indian Grinding Rock State Park and the historic town of Volcano.

Hope Valley
Hope Valley is one of the most beautiful locations in the Sierra. Resting on the east side of Carson Pass only a short drive from South Lake Tahoe, the valley attracts fly fishermen, artists, photographers, hikers, skiers, and bird watchers.
